Baseball Babe #93 Honors Dustin Ackley Seattle Mariners 2012 1st Home Run of Season in Tokyo

The 2012 season of the homerun didn't have to wait long. On March 28th in the early morning hours in the United States and prime time Tokyo in just the fourth inning Dustin Ackley took Brandon McCarthy's fastball yard. The home run was a blast that could have been estimated at about 425 feet to dead centerfield in the top half of the fourth. The monster hit broke up a scoreless game which was later tied in the bottom half of the inning by Kurt Suzuki's double driving in Cliff Pennington who led off the inning with a double.

The pitching duel of Felix Hernandez and Brandon McCarthy went lifeless with out either of them getting the win. But, both pitched masterfully.

The hitting prowless didn't stop for Ackley which in the bottom of the 11th tied 1-1 drove in Brendan Ryan with a single. Ackley after stealing second later scored off Ichiro Suzuki's shallow single to center.

Baseball Babe #65 Honors Jesus Montero Seattle Mariners Catch

The Seattle Mariners traded for a young hitting prospect in Jesus Montero along with Hector Noesi from the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers gained Michael Pineda and Jose Campos.

I chose to make Jesus the babe winner due to what I believe is the best piece of the trade. Getting a hitter that could hit 35-40 homeruns while batting over .300 while playing everday for ten years is to me more valuable than a pitcher that could win 15 games for 5 years and the arm falls off.

Jesus may not be a great catcher so he may move to first base and playing in the american league could also DH with his bat!

Baseball Babe #59 Honors Adam Kennedy Seattle Mariners GW Single

The night of late inning heroics! The surging Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees went into extra innings and Adam Kennedy came through in the bottom of the 12 inning off a nasty slider from the master Mariano Rivera with a bloop single to win the game 5-4.

We do have runner-ups today!

The night also produced a Milwaukee Brewers win over the defending World Series champions San Francisco Giants with a 9th inning bunt sacrifice by Jonathan Lucroy.

Chipper Jones wanted to show he was not getting showed up so in the 12th inning he singles in the go ahead run to help the Atlanta Braves take down the Cincinnati Reds.

All three players deserve the "Baseball Babe Award", but I am going with utility journeyman Adam Kennedy for him slapping the slider of the great one Mariano Rivera.

Baseball Babe #44 Honors Travis Hafner Cleveland Indians GW HR

Pronk is back! The Cleveland Indians keep their fans on the edge of their seats but have been rewarded with late game heroics. Last night was no exception as Travis Hafner hit a bomb to the centerfield grass over the wall with two outs and a runner on to win another walk off home run! The blast gave the go ahead 4-3 win over the in division Seattle Mariners and another loss.
